Catrina in the City

First created as the studio reunited after six months apart during the 2020 pandemic, Catrina in the City has become a recurring public installation celebrating Día de los Muertos. Each edition reimagines Mexico’s iconic La Catrina as a larger-than-life sculpture adorned with intricate embellishments and cascading flowers. Returning every few years in a new form, she honors the studio’s Mexican roots and brings the community together in a celebration of remembrance, culture and creativity.

“Our first Catrina gave the team a reason to come together again after months apart. Each time we create her anew, we reconnect with our Mexican roots and find a different way to share this tradition with the city. For me, she is a celebration of those we remember and a reminder of the humanity we share.”
